It is a good inspiration for people like me to keep on going in this very competitive market. Some of Pete’s comments on the future of social networking were pretty revolutionary. Being a little older, I am still coming to grasp with the need to “update” friends on what is going on at all times of life. Oh well, if you can’t beat them…..

I really appreciated his honest response to #7.

“I’m sure it can be learned, but for a lot of entrepreneurs it seems to come from their character or early, early experiences. Personally, I’m just not good at obeying authority figures.”

Boy can I relate. I do think that entrepreneurs are very self-driven individuals who many times possess strong leadership qualities. There are a lot of people who wouldn’t be able to run a business, because they’d rather let someone else tell them what to do. I was never like that and it was always a challenge for me to submit to authority, and still is.

I think there’s probably a good balance in between, of course, but I also recognize that if I was comfortable with everyone telling me how to run my life and do my job, that I wouldn’t be where I was today. Even as a kid I was often times the one to go ahead of the others when my childhood friends were too afraid to go first. Sometimes you can’t be afraid to step out and lead instead of being led.

And you know what…I’m really okay with that. :)
